Overview of the Role:
The Lab Technician, Product Testing and Development is responsible for assisting with the testing and evaluation of products in the lab. This entry-level position involves performing routine testing, recording data, and assisting with product evaluations under the supervision of the Lab Manager. The Lab Technician will also help maintain lab equipment and follow safety protocols to ensure accurate and efficient product testing.

This role plays a key part in supporting product testing, product prototyping & development, as well as claim support documentation, contributing to the evaluation and launch of new products, and ensuring the smooth operation of lab activities. Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Product Testing & Data Recording: Conduct routine product testing, follow established protocols, and accurately record data while assisting with the preparation of materials and samples for testing.
  • Support Product Evaluations: Assist in running experiments, following test protocols, and documenting results to support product evaluations and further analysis by senior team members.
  • Lab Maintenance & Safety: Help maintain lab equipment, ensure proper calibration, and adhere to safety protocols, contributing to an organized and safe working environment while supporting smooth day-to-day operations.
The Lab Technician will collaborate with the lab team and product development departments to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. This individual will help maintain lab equipment, ensure calibration accuracy, and assist in preparing materials for testing. The role requires strong communication skills to document results clearly and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment to support ongoing innovation efforts.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine product testing, follow established protocols, and record data accurately. Assist with preparing materials and samples for testing.
  • Assist in product evaluations by following test protocols, running experiments, and documenting results for further analysis by senior team members.
  • Help maintain lab equipment and ensure proper calibration. Adhere to safety procedures and protocols, assisting in maintaining an organized and safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with other lab technicians and the Lab Manager to ensure smooth day-to-day lab operations, providing support for product development projects as needed.
  • Display perseverance and flexibility in overcoming technical challenges. Approach setbacks as opportunities to find alternative solutions, maintaining a proactive, growth-oriented mindset to drive project success.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Position could include up to 5-10% travel for external laboratory and supplier visits, industry conferences.

This position has several primary objectives which are critical to the overall success of Woodstream:
  • Support accurate and timely product testing in the lab.
  • Assist with product evaluations and contribute to the overall testing process.
  • Ensure lab safety and help maintain equipment for efficient testing.

Successful Candidate Profile:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related STEM field (Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, etc.).
  • 0-2 years of experience in a lab or product testing environment
  • Basic knowledge of lab equipment and testing procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and data entry.
